I'm listening to Joshua Bell's Romance of the Violin. I believe it was a Christmas gift a couple of years back. I particularly like Nocturne, Track #3.

Awesome!
So, I succumbed and went listened to the music and somehow ended up with the fiddle. Guess what? It's a five-string fiddle. The guy did it himself. He drilled a hole in the chin piece for the base of the C string which goes in between the G and D string fine tuners and on up the fingerboard. It's peg sticks up vertically between the D and A tuners so the tuner is actually on the back of the scroll. I don't know if that makes any sense or if anyone besides BonnieJean would care, but I was absolutely fascinated by it. It's not a very good instrument, doesn't have a good ring to it, but I had never seen anything like it before. Oh, and it turns out the fiddle player is actually one of the guitar players who's taking poetry with me this semester.

Blah
I was driving along Scottie's road today and stopped to watch a grey heron. It's amazing how still those birds can stand. Occasionally, I could see the feather move some of his breast feathers, but other than that he could have been a statue. He made a good illustration for "Be still and know that I AM GOD." Compared to that bird, I don't know how to be still at all. Even when I'm sitting stock still, my mind is still going in a million directions.

Another late night post
Why are most of my blog posts written late at night? I do tend to be more contemplative in the evenings. I think that's a good thing.

People are so patient with me. I was terribly out of tune this morning, but nobody said a thing. Thankfully, most of the time I couldn't be heard, but I know Mike, David, Craig, and Ashley could hear me and they didn't even blink. If I miss a couple of weeks they ask me why and always act thrilled when I show up. They'll are all so nice.
Dad is making incredible progress on the shed roof. We're at the exhaust vent, drip-edge, and tar paper stage.
Caleb is such a great sound effects technician. He's pretending halo in front of me with a quite impressive variety of sounds.
The Hebrew alphabet is so gorgeous.
Chera called me today. I just love talking to her!
I need to get to bed. I've been working on this blog post almost all evening and it's not even long. I just kept getting distracted.
