Let's guess

My last blog post said I had 2 big things to blog about. Since then I have caught the influenza and have been busy coughing my lungs up. A side effect of coughing up my lungs is complete loss of brain power. I can't remember what else I was supposed to tell y'all about.

Dad called yesterday and today and emailed me! I feel loved!

I find myself expressing loneliness over missing Dad in odd ways. I seem to be seem to have a much higher emotional idling speed, if that makes any sense. It's like my emotional cup is already full with missing Dad, so practically anything will make me spill over---as in tears or anger. I think this is why not having a full time job is bothering me so much. There's just not enough faith and patience to encompass it all around. I think this calls for what's called "growth". I just need more faith and patience.

Finite Contemplation

In the Hogfather, they discover that there is a finite amount of belief in the universe. I'm not so certain about that, but I've decided I possess personally a finite amount of contemplation and writing. I've been doing a lot of journaling this week, which I'm not quite prepared to post on here yet. However, that has totally drained me of any thoughts to post on here, and I don't want to do a boring "This is what I did" or "This is what I need to do" post. So, here is a poem I wrote for poetry class last semester. It has been well received by the very wide audience of the Teagues, my family, and my poetry class. I wrote it thinking about Dixie and Sirius.

Fetch

I shall mercilessly maul!

Why do people delay?

Look, there goes the ball!

Now you are in my thrall!

Sphere, there’s no use to pray.

I shall mercilessly maul!

Someone pulls. Oh, the gall!

No! You shall not esca—

Look, there goes the ball!

This time I crawl,

silently sneaking up on my prey.

I shall mercilessly maul!

I pounce and fall

as the target gives a slight sway.

Look, there goes the ball!

Across the yard and back against the wall—

I could play away the day!

Look, there goes the ball!

I shall mercilessly maul!

Random Thoughts from State Committee Meeting

This is what you get when I have internet access and am sitting in a session about Facebook that's not telling me anything new.

Tweet is one of the funniest words ever.

I wish the American Majority and Republican stuff would emphasize getting content in social networks instead of just connections and quantity. I think we're ending up with people generating a lot of fluff or worst just empty accounts that don't do anything. We need to use new media for meaningful connections and discussions--not just numbers. Perhaps I'm just a step ahead. maybe we need to get people on before we can train them for significance. I'm just concerned that I'm not seeing any move towards that. We need to be training people on how to write blogs, feed blogs into Twitter and Facebook, use Facebook to notify them of a meaningful politcal email, etc.. Right now I just feel like they're just chanting "Use Facebook! Use Twitter!"

I love hot rolls.

Naomi was so sweet to come with me today. I've been fighting a migraine for a couple of days now, so she came in case I get bad enough that I can't drive.

I wonder how long until the FCC starts regulating Facebook ads.

Curiousity

Samuel can see how many people view a photo on his flickr page. He noticed that the picture I posted on my blog had 5 or 6 times the average number of views. So now I'm curious, who are all these people? I thought I only had about 10 readers. I'm in danger of getting a big head.

I had an interesting idea for a blog post earlier today and now I can't remember it...

Ice!

We're all home today, staying off the icey roads.  We lost power for about 6 hours last night, but it's back.  Even if it does go out, we have a generator so we're all set.

I love reading Chera's blogs and her notes on facebook!  I wish she was here today.  We could bake cookies or snuggle on the couch with fleeces and watch a chick flick and do other wintry-no-school days activities.

I'm going to go listen to Mama tell us a story.

Another late night post

Why are most of my blog posts written late at night?  I do tend to be more contemplative in the evenings.  I think that's a good thing.

Punyou had two seizures this evening.  The first one was about a mintue and a half and the second was a little less than a minute.  They were about thirty minutes apart.  His whole head would shake, back and forth not up and down, and his eyes wouldn't blink.  We'll call the vet in the morning.

I think I'll go take the computer and U.S. history II CLEPs tomorrow.  Yeah for CLEP tests!  Everybody pray for me.

Mama found my old violin shoulder rest--hallelujah!  I haven't been too happy with my new one.  It pops off whenever I really start hugging the violin to me.

Hillcat basketball is having a great season!  The men are 6-0 in conference play, 12-0 overall.  The ladies just won their 6th game in a row last night and are 4-2 in conference play, 10-4 overall.  They both play St. Gregory's tomorrow.  I'll have to leave right in the middle to go to band practice at church, but I'm hoping to catch most of it.  I sat with Ethan, Mae, and her boyfriend Aaron at the last home game.  Mae played basketball in high school, so she was able to explain all the ref's calls, which was awesome because they're totally incomprehensible to me.

I had a very productive day today.  I applied for 6 different jobs, filed the quarterly report for the Rogers County Republicans with the State Ethics Commission, renewed the club's registration (with the $52.50 fee) with said Commission, took the sample U.S. history CLEP, cleaned my room (some), worked out, and stretched.  I should have cleaned my desk, but I didn't.  Oh, well, tomorrow.

I now have three of my textbooks in: Orientalism and Comparative Politics for my Comparative Politics class, and an Anthology of 20th Century Native American Poetry for my Poetry Writing class.

I'm really enjoying a book Julie lent me called Stealing Elections by John Fund.  It's challenging my some of my views on absentee ballots and extremely interesting.

I try to remember to ask this something-resembling-annually: who all reads my blog?

New layout!

Mama and Samuel both told me that my old layout was hard to read long posts on, so I switched to this. Feedback?

Chera has worked wonders!

Chera helped me fix my blog and introduced me to pyzam. Feedback, please?

I feel like I'm getting a 4 day birthday with Chera being here. We're having a blast!

We're off to Walmart to get supplies for a science experiment and a special kind of pudding/parfait chera is going to make us. Hopefully we'll keep those two events separate...

There was this crazy man on a blog...

"So yes, Gina and Steve, I hold to the view that the Universe and all that occurs within it is intrinsically perfect. Not good, not bad, or any other quality assigned by humans. Perfect in own right, on its own terms. (Now you can go home and tell your friends about the crazy man you met on the blog...)"

I don't really think he's crazy, but he's certainly heading in the wrong direction. I'm encouraged that he's regularly commenting on the Point. We'll 'fix' him, yet.

OK, people, I need some help here. I want to know how to change the color of my title bar (up there where it says Palindrome Prattlings, etc..) and how to get my labels, archives, etc.. up on the side bar. I've been trying to click and drag them over there in my 'Page Elements' page, but it won't let me move them. It's like they're too big to go on the side. Any hints?

Argh!

Ahoy me mateys! Today be the day that we all talk like pirates. It is purely by luck that this be the same day that the captain has changed her ship's appearance. We are all under orders to admire it, under fear of keelhauling.
