Recent happenings...
The cold case at the deli started leaking freeon (freon? free-on?) Tuesday morning. This means that we slice everything fresh (this is good. No messing around with trays-keeping them full and nice looking only to turn around at 6, package the meat, and wash the trays.) and have about only 1/2 the storage room we usually have for meats and cheese (this is bad. Any time I use something up I have to make the customer wait while I run to the cooler in the back room and get another package.) The maintence dudes say it will be about 2 weeks to get it fixed. Oh, that's good! No! That's bad! I'm definitely going to need to buy that tape and book whenever I get married and have kids. Maybe I should go ahead and buy it now for my own entertainment....
I read The Green and the Grey by Timothy Zahn. I highly recommend it and shan't say anymore about it so I won't ruin it for you.
My 6 and under white belts were holy terrors Monday night! 30 minutes in I was about ready to send a couple of them over to sit on the bleachers the rest of the night. By the end of the class I had real trouble ever actually accomplishing anything between giving and threatening pushups. I think at least 4 possibly 5 of them passed. Out of 11 testees of that age it's actually a pretty good ratio. I really must admit that I very much prefer the 7-9 year olds and am positively dying to see how they did. Christina and Larry were testing them.
Judith was in such a grumpy and bossy mood today! She was irritating me and positively driving Charla crazy. When Angelia got there at 2 she was mad because no one had stocked the freezer or filled the salads since she worked Monday night. Now, considering how frantic it's been since Tuesday morning this usually wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact that Vicki and Judith almost always leave the majority of that work to Angelia and I. We had a very nice de-venting session of listing every single complaint about those two to each other (mainly-they leave work for the next shift but throw a fit when work gets left for them and they're rude to customers and us.) It was nice to know that other folks see these problems too and that's not just me. The only problem being of course that it didn't solve anything. Angelia said they had this problem a while before I came, the whole department got called upstairs, hashed it out with Tim and Darryl and jointly came up with the rule that each shift is not to leave with work undone or things to fill. Vicki never observes this rule, Judith only fills meats, bakery shelves, and the bare minimum of the freezer, which leaves most of the work falling on Angelia's shoulders. Angelia says she will end up hashing it out with management again or transferring to another department. I know I always get things filled when I work nights; and that I need to be more sure (is that proper English) that when I work 10-5 that I don't let Vicki or Judith get me busy doing sandwiches or salads or cleaning and never getting around to filling. Before I've always done the work in the way that they prioritized it not realizing that every shift is supposed to fill and not just the closing shift. So, new priority for my 10-5 shifts: fill between noon and 2 so that night person only has to fill for their shift and not the whole day.
Ok, if you actually made it through that you're amazing!
I got to watch the movied Hoodwinked! Highly recommend it.
Anne Hathaway really needs to break out of the fairytale/princess role. Considering her very expressive and dramatic face I have decided that she needs to play a deaf girl. I even have a half-cooked plot with that as her role.
Found a very interesting site. LibraryThingy. Cool service.
Keep praying real hard for Wankan's Brazil trip. So far, half's the team payed for but it's just getting really down to the wire for the other half.
I really feel the need for a good fight. I should go russle up Ethan or Joshua.
Or maybe I should turn on Glory Road before it get's much later.
Or maybe I'll just keep writing this.
I love summer! I was glad it was summer even though I drove the non-a.c. subaru today. I was thrilled with summer 2 nights ago when I stood out in the 'soft Southern night' and looked at the full moon. I will be even more ecstatic that it's summer when I go swimming either tomorrow or Saturday.
I'm really looking forward to Twilight Prayer and Praise Friday. OMB, I just realized that another day has gone by with me forgetting to invite Bro. Scottie to it. Bad Anna!
I miss Samuel very much!
I love reading Chera's blog. She's just the most wonderful thing ever!
I'm goign to go watch the movie. Love y'all!
