Title: Unique Me.
So the day started off with tripping all over the mess on the floor of mine while stumbling into the living room to see Samuel off. Then I looked at email, got a drink of water (I'm positively addicted and always have to start the day with a full glass of water), and got dressed. I then surfed blogs and looked mournfuly at BJ's lack of updates. Got to wake up all the little siblings which is always fun. They're all so wonderful!
At about 9:10 Mama, Naomi, and I headed out for the Rec Center My plan was to walk 10 minutes then run 10. Two laps into the walking I said hey to Ann, an older lady whom Mama walks with occasionally. She introduced me to her husband, Ben, who was with her. I remembered that he collects old farm equipment. So I told him about the Archer County commissioners trying to sell some of U. Jack's museum pieces. Ben was very righteously indignant and gave an impromptu speech about preserving historical pieces for future generations. Then somehow we got onto windmills and how he transported one half-way across the state, refurbished and installed it to power their well. That got us into wind power which lead to hydro-power, and you guessed it, the Grand Coulee Dam. He actually knew about it! He had seen a documentary about the building of large dams in the 30s on the History Channel. He and Ann have a goal of going to each of the states, and they're only lacking 4. 2 of them are Alaska and Washington. He said they want to go up through Washington to Alaska some summer. So I told him about the laser light show. And then I realized I had been walking for 19 minutes. So I quit and stretched. But I didn't want to run today anyway and Ben was a lot of fun. And some teens think old people are boring...
I showered when I got home, emailed a couple of people, then went with Mama to find me a formal dress for Emily and Sarah's party. So we go to the local Goodwill store. I couldn't help laughing to myself: a couple of weeks ago the girls at Sunday school were all passing around their prom scrapbooks each with what seemed 1 million shots of their dress. Give me Goodwill anyday! We bought just a Sunday dress and silver blouse (no formal gowns there), and... take a guess... 6 books. Fahrenheit 451, autobiography of Chuck Yeager (first man to go faster than the speed of sound), picture book of Prince of Egypt, Volume 1 of 15 of Masterplots (a book detailing the plot of famous literature), Americans at Home, and A Small Farm.
Then I got to drive into Tulsa while listening to Rush. He had some great comments about Berger (sp?) to make. Whoever heard of sticking documents in your pants just because you forgot your briefcase. Send one of your lackeys to go get it! Heard a new Coburn commercial. It's responding to some down-right nasty remarks by Humphreys. It said that Humphreys' comments broke a promise the two had made back at the beginning of their campaigns, Coburn is not going to go negative, none of the allegations were true, and Mrs. Coburn assures him that he looks much better than the pictures shown. I laughed so hard after that last line! Coburn is 51.2% in the polls. Oh yeah!
At Goodwill we found a lovely full-length periwinkle that's a tad large in the shoulders but we can fix that and an exact copy of my favorite pink shirt only it's PURPLE! I was thrilled! We saw a girl who had mannerisms a lot like Natalie. Made me miss her! There was a girl about 11 who was so fashion and body concious. It broke my heart to see what she was trying on and her mom agreeing to it. SHE'S A LITTLE GIRL! SHE DOESN'T NEED TO LOOK SEXY! And don't get me started on some of the undies I saw that are supposedly dresses.
We stopped at Quiktrip on the way home and I almost chewed out the clerk for eating with his fingers, not washing them before checking me out, and talking with his mouthful. But I was in a hurry and didn't. I hope he doesn't end up with some jerk telling him off for that.
I got home, did algebra, cleaned my room (no stumbling tomorrow morning), and watched kids while Mama went to a lady's meeting. And then I posted a real long blog post...
