I'm feeling much better, BTW. Mama however is feeling worse. :(
Here's a copy of an email Mama sent out to several people about BJ.
BonnieJean has called twice, Monday morning and just briefly this morning. Here are the fast facts:
She's on Jiman, and settling right in. She said the rooms are much nicer than the ones at the camp, and she's getting to room with Megan Jeffries, a girl she took the TESL course with 2 years ago! She's looking forward to getting to know the rest of the team, and says they all seem to be really nice and fun. They're all looking forward to learning Chinese and have been told that Jiman is the best place to do that, because the people are all very helpful and patient with you.
There are 29 schools on Jiman. Each class will have an hour with one of the English teachers per week. I'm not sure how many classes there are. Earlier this week the team met with most of the teachers to get an idea of what they wanted, and she'll start teaching on Thursday.
There's a church on the island with a Sunday service, and an English (!) Bible study afterwards. This was something the teams had been told not to expect, so they all feel so blessed!
There is a computer there with internet access, but she doesn't know how much time she'll have. She's going to try to hook up her laptop to the phone line, as it's a much faster computer than the school's.
She purchased a cell-phone, and a plan for local calls. Right now she's still calling us on a phonecard, but we're looking around at some phonecards that are only for international calls and are much cheaper!
Thanks so much for supporting her in prayer, or just being interested in what's going on! Y'all are a blessing!
I'm getting a sneaking suspicion (sp?) that I'm the only one who reads Chera's blog, and she's the only one that reads mine. Oh, well! Let's go for quality, not quantity. :)
Samuel, Ethan, and Naomi were very disappointed with the akiado (sp?) seminar Monday night. Samuel said that most of the instructors torked too quickly and hard on the joint manipulation, and Mr. Brian made Naomi cry. We're going to talk to Mr. Murray about it, because Naomi's no baby. And Mr. Brian had torked Samuel's wrist too hard earier, also.
Dad wants me off, don't know why. I'm going to have a good attitude, I'm going to have a good attitude, I'mgoing...
