It was very cloudy and wet today. Thankfully, it wasn't very hot, but unfortunately it was too wet to do much outside. We didn't got swimming today because of that.
I read 6 pages of biology today. We're on the module about cellular reproduction The next will be about genetics, after that evolution. Last night we did an experiment in which we extracted DNA from an onion. It was amazing to actually get to see and touch it! They say that if you took all the DNA from one of your cells and stretched it out it would be about 2 yards long. !!!!
BonnieJean opted to use her free miles with Southwest (I think it's Southwest.) for a free subscription to the Wall Street Journal. It's most interesting. Analysis's are all shouting out for people not to worry, go ahead and invest. I think right now, with the tech market in the barrel, would be a good time to invest in Bic or a notebook paper company. Wish I had enough money to do that.
The group from church that went to Honduras should have gotten back last night. As far as I know they did. I can't wait to hear all that happened.
I'm catching up on letters ever so slowly. Gives me a good feeling to accomplish those finally! Topics I'm covering in them are biology, the boys' braces, 4th of July, my birthday, JC's upcoming visit, Dad's business trip to Colorado 29th through the 8th, and our trip to Chicago in August.
We watched the Count of Monte Cristo today. Quite interesting. Had the very classic plot, with all the necessary classic scenes: Man in black cape riding furiously on a black horse. A pistol duel. A princess from the East. A sword fight. Prisoners digging tunnels. Revenge. Love. Conspiracy. The movie was very clean, so we got the basic idea of the story line without having to read the book which looked to have some very perverse sections. It was interesting to see how revenge ruined the lives of more than just the people who had wronged him. Mercedes, Albert, Valentine, and himself. I LOVED the Italian friar!!!!! If he had stuck around instead of dying things would have gone much better. The filming was very good through the whole movie. The sets, the costumes, music, and backgrounds were all extraordinary! And the bad guys were all very bad. I loved Valentine and Mercedes and Albert, too. All very noble and strong. Very admirable.
I got my test booklet today for Math 87. We had had one, but Samuel lost it. Now that we have paid for a new one, the old one will show up just to taunt us, I bet.
B.T.W., I'm writing this offline. I don't know if I'll have time for my computer time today. I have gotten so busy this year. But, such happens as one grows older, I guess.
Have I told y'all about my cousin Nick? I can't remember and I'm not online so I can't check. Anyway, turns out he has been a Buddhist for the last 2 years. His 2 major flaws in thinking are 1. Religon (he thinks Christianity is a religon.) is for the purpose of making one a better person. He doesn't see that a Christian's purpose is to have a relationship with God. And because of that he becomes a better person. 2. A person can quit sinning on his own. I think Buddhist call that the state of enlightment. He knows he's a sinner, he just doesn't know he's a helpless sinner. Natalie (his sister) is emailing him, and Aunt Leona is thinking about having the pastor talk to him. Please pray for him and those trying to help him.
We're having pancakes for supper tonight! Mama is cooking them right now, and boy! do they smell good.
Listening to: Brother Sun, Sister Moon.
Books I'm reading presently: The Elements of Style by Strunk White and Lost Moon by Jim Lovell and Chuck Kluger. I finished Genesis in my Bible reading today. We're reading first John in our family devotion time.
Bothered by: How slow I am at math both in time and mental measurements.
Happy about: My progress in letter writing and biology.
Things left to do today: Practice sign language with Joshua and re-do a math papter.
Wearing: Blue short sleeve shirt and red shorts. A ring from Kiwa. Blue polish on my toes, purple on my fingers, and a silver toe ring all from my secret sister (she must be an angel on earth. Her notes are super encouraging and I know she's praying for me.)
Which leads to another thing. I'm finding it difficult to pray for Mandi. I barely know her and have no idea what is happening in her life or how my prayers are being answered. It builds faith! Praying scripture for her has been reall good. Mandi is a little bit hard for me to like. She's cliquish, dresses faddishly and immodestly, likes to shop, and collects purses. God must have picked her for me as a growing experience.
I need to eat soon, so I'm going to post this and get a little something done before supper.
Love, ~Anna~
