Here's a letter I wrote yesterday. Some of it you already know, but that's what I wrote yesterday instead of being here.
Dear _______, 7-18-02
I’m so sorry for not writing sooner! And I have no excuse either, so please forgive me!
Our 4th was a lot of fun! Dad took Ethan and Samuel into Tulsa to do some street evangelism with juggling. The response wasn't overwhelming, but good for their first try! The rest of us went to our friends, the Juds, for their big 4th of July party. Just the food and visiting were worth it, but the fireworks afterward made it doubly worth it! They were very BIG and spectacular! Then on the 6th we set off our own small fireworks on the driveway. It was the biggest event of the year for the little guys, I think, when they got to set off a few! How was your 4th?
We have adopted a crawdad! We were thinking about getting Naomi a hermit crab for a pet, but changed their minds when a guy that works at Wal-Mart told them that they don’t stay in their cages. 2 mornings Mama was coming home from running some errands in town, and find one walking across the road, and decided he would do instead.. He is now installed in the kitchen in his own aquarium with dirt and water. Naomi named him Crusty. We're all enjoying him tremendously!
BonnieJean, Samuel, and I did a biology experiment last night. It was most interesting! We extracted DNA from an onion, and actually to see and touch it! Now, I can't think of how to describe it. As I said above, I am not the most articulate writer!
We’re going to be traveling and visiting a lot the rest of the summer. Dad has a business trip 28th through the 8th in Colorado. A friend from WA will be here the 10th-20th. We’re all driving to Chicago the weekend of the 25th for Dad’s grandma’s 105th birthday party. Ethan, Naomi, Joshua, and Isaac have free tickets to 6 Flags (6 Flags handed them out for kids that recorded their reading for 600 minutes in a certain time period.) that expire on the 4th, so all or some of us will be driving to Arlington soon. On top of that we have my birthday (see below.), Caleb’s is the 11th, Mama and Dad’s anniversary on the 19th, and Dad’s birthday on the 25th. Never a dull moment!
I'm having a little party on my birthday, August 4th (wish you could come!). We’ll have a family party later when Dad is home. On the 4th however, I'll have 5 girls from church over. I would love to have more over, but that's all we can take home using both our vehicles. I haven't planned yet what we're going to do. I guess I should knuckle down, and organize that! :)
Samuel had braces put on early this month. Ethan had a herptes put on the 10th. Samuel's is just to correct the way his teeth meet. Ethan's lower jaw hasn't grown as fast as it should, so he has a very big overbite. The herptes is to pull that forward. It's been difficult for them (especially Ethan, as his appliance is much more involved.), but they're managing very well! I'm so glad my teeth are good!
Our neighbors are letting us use their pool this summer! They let us last year, too! It is a lot of fun! BonnieJean is thinking about taking a life guarding class, so Samuel and I went over with her this morning to see if we could do some of the requirements. She was able to swim the required 500 yards, and I did 397 yards and 2 feet. J I feel like a noodle now, but I figure if I keep it up I won’t. I was surprised that I did that much!
Samuel is doing a juggling show tonight. It will be a very informal form of inside street juggling called strolling for the employee banquet of the Avis Rent-a-Car in Tulsa. It will be secular of course, and Samuel hasn’t done that in quite a while. But he has some really funny routines, and I’m sure he’ll do just fine.
Attached is a survey I wrote with my answers. I won’t mind if you don’t fill it out or have different answers than mine. J
