Good chilly, wet, fall morning!
This is the kinda of day for fleeces and cappucinos. I have the blanket but haven't made the drink yet.
OctoberFist was a blast! We rode down with Jay (brownbelt at Mr. Bo.'s) and David (13 year old orange belt at Mr. Bo.'s) and talked and talked and talked. Jay's dad was cool, especially his one year old standard poodle, Annie. Very smart and lively dog with her toenails painted red. That still makes me giggle. And I had to exercise extreme will power in not taking half of Mr. Ba.'s books home. But I succeeded (sp?). I'm disappointed that I didn't place in kata. I thought I had gotten first. I don't know why the other two judges rated me so low but Mr. M. thought I did good so I'm ok. Sparring was just downright fun. I still have the problem of letting them get the first contact and then me htting them three or four times afterwards. Samuel and Joshua cleaned out their divisions, Josiah cleaned out his, and Ethan mopped up after Josiah. Poor Mr. H. didn't do well in bow or empty hand. :( Oh, and I got to see Mrs. L. compete in empty hand and weapon forms, and I got to watch her judge Joshua's ring. I like her, especially the way she judges sparring. Oh, and there were a yellow belt and an orange belt in the same age group as Joshua that were just tremendous in sparring! I see green belts who aren't that good. Oh, and the three other interesting notes are: It was held in the Comanche Nation Youth Program building and had a filthy, painted concrete floor. Under 18 they didn't split the boys and girls for fighting. Yeah! On the way home God got us into Burger King about 60 seconds before a Baptist bus pulled up.
No worldview today, no Dad going to work, it's Columbus Day Observed.
Tomorrow is RCRY and hopefully driving into Tulsa for Coburn phone calling. Thursday is also RCRY public meeting, with Speakers Wayland Smalley and Rep. Randy Brogdon.
I've started teaching Isaac piano for 15 minutes on Tuesdays and Fridays. He's doing really well and Mama's paying me!
I'm loving the Rosetta Stone Spanish. I'm hoping Samuel will kinda start picking up on it again and we'll be able to talk to eachother in it.
Talk about setting the bias at the beginning! Robert Burns has it down good.
AL ASAD AIR BASE, Iraq (AP) - The United States may be able to reduce its troop levels in Iraq after the January elections if security improves and Iraqi government forces continue to expand and improve, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Sunday. Meanwhile, car bombers struck twice in rapid succession in the capital Sunday, killing at least 11 people including an American soldier.
Why don't you just come out and say it: 'He's lying through his teeth to the American forces and people. Iraq is a quagmire, no plan for peace, completely out of control. Vote John Kerry!'
I've been sitting here too long. Gotta get going.
