Lalalala... Nothing like a sprain ankle for lots of internet and thinking time. It's fun now. By Sunday I think I'll probably go stir crazy. So I'm enjoying my down time before that happens.
BonnieJean got her big box finally! We mailed it pretty soon after she left and we've been praying for it to arrive! I had a lovely conversation with her last night. She told me about some different gifts she's bought for us and some of her harrowing driving experiences. In Taiwan you're only required to wear a seatbelt if you're in the front seat. Twice now (once when someone rushed into their road without yielding and another time when someone was in the lane round a curve) her driver has had to stand on the brakes and she's had to catch herself on his seat. But God's looking after her!
Oh, one thing I meant to mention, BJ, was this blog. I think you might want to use his template. I believe he got it from blogger. Have you gotten to look at any of the templates they have up?
Far in the misty past I remember telling Chera that I would write about my opinion on the human-to-daddy-long-leg-spiders relationship. So here it is finally! BTW, I shall call them DLL so I don't have to write the full name out every time.
DLL don't bite. They eat nasty bugs like mosquitoes and flies. They don't make webs that get caught in your hair and make everything look a haunted house. They don't even eat your carpet like crickets do. Basically, there's no harm that a DLL can do to you and no reason to kill them rather than taking them outside.
Ok, now look at how people treat them. People kill them every which way-sometimes quickly, sometimes with torture. As I stated before there's no reason to kill them. Why then? It's our sin nature that enjoys making something smaller than us suffer. And DLL have fright, pain, and a desire to live just like every other living creature.
Now, a little spiritual perspective. We're told to be stewards of the earth and it's resources. We know each member of ecosystems are important. So it's easy to see that since DLL aren't harmful to us it's not good stewardship to kill them w/out reason.
Another spiritual tidbit on the subject. I wanna talk about transcendence. I'm not sure if this is in the dictionary but this is how Mr. Sutton described it. On a scale we have a worm, an angel, and God. Compared to the difference between God and angel there's no difference between the angel and the worm. Now substitue human and DDL for angel and worm. In God's eyes we're probably a lot like DDL. But He doesn't kill us for wandering into someplace that we shouldn't have like we kill DDL for getting into our houses. And He certainly doesn't slowly pull our limbs off for the fun of it.
And I shall finish with a story that happened to Mama. She was trying to smash a spider that was on her counter. She had one hand on the counter and had some smashing object in the other. The spider, not knowing human anatomy, ran under her other hand to hide. He was shaking he was so scared. She said it was a spiritual experience to see how alive and feeling a spider is.
