Hey! This might be a quick post as supper is almost ready!

We went to Eastland Hills Baptist Church last Sunday. I liked it, but I don't think we'll go back as they have drums. Their pastor is on a mission trip with some other guys from the church so they had a guest speaker. He shared about a time when he was forced to resign from a church, and the encouragement people gave him. It was real good. Something he said struck me. I don't have the exact words but the gist was..."Instead of saying 'call me anytime!', call them." It reminded me of something Sam told the class and I. Whenever she was pregnant with Simon and they were both very sick, Mr. B. was visiting with another Christian doctor he worked with at the hospital. The doctor had lost his wife some years back, and none of his friends from work or church (besides the pastor) ever called or wrote or dropped by. And when after a time he asked about it they said that whenever they drove by there was a car in the driveway, so they assumed somebody else was there. But it was actually his car, and for some reason it wasn't in the garage. Sam summed it up by saying "Never assume someone else is there to be a comforter."

We do that so much when our friends go through tough times, or there's soemone who needs witnessing. We excuse ourselves by listing off all the people that are surely there for them. But likely as not, they're doing the same excuse thing.

Gotta go eat!
