God has a sense of humor.

BonnieJean recently taught me the Chinese slang phrase 'Som by'. It literally means three eight but it's slang so it means a girl who's really ditzy, flirtatious, boy crazy, and just straight out of the blonde jokes. Fast forward to Wednesday.

I worked 10-5 and it was really slow so Mama picked me up early. We picked up a couple of quick groceries and were standing in line to check out. I lean over and tell Mama that our checker is very som by IMO. We get up to the front of the line and it comes up while the checker is scanning the 20 discount candy bars we had that I have 5 brothers and 2 sisters. She asks if it was all by one marriage and next thing I know she is voicing very sound thoughts about marriage being permanent and people go in and out of it too fast and that it's just wonderful that my parents are still together, etc.. This is the first time I have ever heard her ever say anything intelligent, much less deep or correct, so I just keep agreeing and trying to ignore God chuckling and poking me in the ribs. That's what I get for passing judgement on somebody, I guess.
