Let's just start from scratch.

Eagle hatched her first chick of the season this morning! It looks just like Eagle did as a chick: soft yellow with a brown stripe on each wing. Chicks are amazingly cute!

I dutifully set an alarm for 7 a.m. last night, dutifully turned it off this morning and was laying in bed getting excited about the day, and then Mama was yelling that we all had SLEPT IN TILL 9, ANNA! YOU'RE LATE FOR CLASS! I'm so glad I can get ready to go somewhere quickly. I was still late but only missed announcements and the introduction to the audio tape we listened to. The bad thing is that I was going to call Samuel before class and it was too late afterwards. :(

I'm reading John Locke's Second Treatise on Government for worldview right now. He has terrible run-on sentences but good ideas. I especially liked his thoughts on the natural state of man: independent families (which often evolve into hereditary monarchies with the grandad as king), protection in the hands of each person, no court system... 'And every man did what was right in his own eyes' kind of thing. The obvious drawbacks are: Without a common defense a large enemy can just leisurely pick off each little tribe and everyman will be prejudiced towards his own cause so you need a court system. Therefore we join together and get what Locke calls commonwealths. Ta-da!

I sliced the top of my right big toe open Thursday. I was stepping over Dad's tool bucket and didn't lift my foot high enough and drug it straight across the pointof a chisel. But it didn't need stitches and isn't infected so it's all good.

Disturbing.

I was going to write about church yesterday but I've got to get to work. Love y'all!
