Hello adoring fans! All is well here, except for poor Mama has really bad sinus trouble which has upset her stomach. :(
Today's topic: My opinion on my recently finished study of the Greek philosphers. Dad found it all rather vain because they were so off the mark. I had already formulate my opinion on it and am now finally getting around to posting it. I think it's worth it because 1, a lot of people still believe the same things even if they don't recognize it. For example... All of Plato's Republic was based on his belief that virtue comes through knowledge and that through education you could perfect someone. That's a Lenin belief that a lot of people still hold. They phrase it this way "Man is a product of his enviroment." And since people still believe and propogate (sp?) these ideas I should learn to recognize, analyize and refute them. Secondly, they had some good ideas and were sometime close to the mark. It was a good exercise in rightly discerning truth. I should be doing these things now when I have my parents, Sam and the rest of class to talk it through with me than when I'm just out floating on my own. And thirdly, our Western culture's beginning was so affected by it that from a historical perspective you can't get away without studying it.
Hope that made some sense to y'all. And I have to go do algebra.
