This is just a quick post to let y'all know that I'm still alive and don't have time to post today. Meanwhie, here's an excerpt from B.'s blogger. I have not read the book.

The book is "Don't Waste Your Life" by John Piper. I'm only on page thirty-five, but it's proving to be very interesting. The website sums it up, "Millions of people are wasting their lives pursuing dreams of happiness that don't rise above a good marriage, nice kids, a successful career, a nice car, fun vacations, nice friends, a fun retirement, a painless death, and (hopefully) no hell. John Piper calls this a tragedy in the making. He argues that we were created for joy. We were designed to have one life-encompassing passion. In this book he describes his own journey in discovering this great, single passion. And He pleads that at all costs we pursue our joy in the crucified Christ, who is the glory of God. The cost is great. But the joy is worth any cost. Don’t buy seductive, tragic promises of worldly joy. Don’t waste your life."
This couldn't be more applicable to me. It's so easy to get caught up in school, in work, in so many "worldly" things. It's always good to have a constant reminder that I'm supposed to be a living sacrifice. Dead to me, alive to Him. Everything I do is supposed to be for the glory of God. That's such a cliche statement that sometimes we hear it or read it and just skip right by it. "Yeah, yeah," we nod, "I'm living for Jesus." Most of us aren't drunkards, aldulterers, addicts, or anything else "major." We stay away from most sin (in fact, it seems most of our lives are devoted to that alone). That's all great and good. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says that even when eating and drinking we are to glorify God. Those are such basic things, but do we even glorify Him in the bigger things? The scripture says, "In all that you do, do it to the glory of God." "Don't Waste Your Life" is sort of an in depth examination of this idea, and so far it's really good. I'll give my final opinion on the book once I finish it.
